Unicorns
and fairies are well represented in the Myth and Magic collections.
Generally depicting the softer side of the world of mythology these
gentle creatures and magical spirits are collected worldwide.
Fairies
Fairies have been part of our culture for
many years. From the tooth fairy that leaves coins under childrens
pillows in exchange for milk teeth to Tinkerbell in Peter Pan,
Fairies represent a land of enchantment where wishes can be granted
but also mischief can be done. Fairies are not just confined to
the pages of childrens story books, throughout literature the
fairy has been a central character. Shakespear used fairies in
a number of his plays most notably Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet,
The Tempest and Midsummernights Dream
Now it is the time of night
That the graves, all gaping wide,
Every one lets forth his sprite,
In the church-way paths to glide:
And we fairies, that do run
By the triple Hecate’s team,
From the presence of the sun,
Following darkness like a dream,
Now are frolic; not a mouse
Shall disturb this hallow’d house:
I am sent with broom before,
To sweep the dust behind the door.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream" (5.2.80-91)
Myth and Magic have incorporated this sense of magic in their
fairy studies linking fairies with romance and wisdom the fairy
studies remain a popular collection

Unicorns in
The Land of the Dragons Collection
Myth and Magic have introduced
a range of Unicorns into the Land of the Dragons Collection. These
intricate and colourful studies evoke a sense of magic and gentle
beauty which makes them a highly collectable range in their own
right. The land of Fairies and Unicorns is a realm of peace and
enchantment where unicorns with magical horns prance in the sunlight
by the side of crystal pools as they seach for the elusive fairies
playing hide and seek in the glades.
"Well now we have seen each other," said the Unicorn
"If you believe in me, I'll believe in you. Is that a bargain?"
- Lewis Carroll

the blood of the Gorgon Medusa when she was decapitated by the
hero Perseus. He carried Bellerophon in his fight with the chimera,
and was later transformed into a constellation.
Pegasus was also regarded as a symbol of poetic
genius; Hippocrene, the spring of the Muses on Mount Helicon,
was said to have sprung from a blow of his hoof.
This mythical creature is featured in a number of medium sized
studies in the main Myth and Magic collection.
